Tina did not cheat on Artie with Mike.
They broke up over the summer.
Unless I completely missed something, their dialogue made me pretty sure of this as a general audience viewer at the time.
I dislike you.
Although my personal interpretation was that Tina broke up with Artie beforehand and that the cafeteria scene was him seeking further explanation why, I think it’s also pretty ambiguous with regards to whether or not there was actual cheating. Everything about their discussion makes it sound like Tina had already broken it off and Artie was merely trying to find out why. Furthermore, the fact that using Artie as an unreliable narrator in this scenario complicates things. Just because it’s shown on screen does not mean it actually happened - for example, when Quinn told Sam she saved Finn’s life from a gumball, the entirety of Mike’s conversations with his father and Tina in the ballet room, or you know, pretty much all of Safety Dance and Scream. Especially since they seemed to be playing Tina/Mike as a punchline for much of early S2 (until the writers realized people actually enjoyed the pairing), it’s not impossible for the Asian camp flashback scene to just have been Artie’s exaggerated retelling of what actually happened over the summer.
I didn’t want to get into this again because I had already wasted too much time debating it with Artie stans (mostly one...
I think there was a writing/directing fail there that made it ambiguous. We see what could either be Tina breaking up...
